This can seem a little strange to add my own website to my portfolio.
I have received many positive feedbacks on my previous website and was frequently asked by programmers: “Did YOU make it?"
I am answering this question on this very page:
“Yes, I designed and built the site you are browsing right at this second."
A redesign from “A to Z":
My previous website was built with a tool really easy to take in hand and really well thought. However, it soon revealed its limits. I have therefore decided to use another CMS.
Firstly, the main debate: WordPress or Drupal? After many researches and talks with programmers I have chosen WordPress.
Secondly, the scope layout:
- Defining my requirements and main specs,
- Content inventory and defining a tree view,
- Trials and creation of page templates,
- Long hours of media searches,
- Although minimal, I still had to define a budget and abide by it.
Burning a candle at both ends:
Finally, getting my hands dirty. This involved:
- Creating a logo,
- Building the website on Wordpress:
Page layouts were created with a page builder which allowed me to produce the pages as I had imagined them
- CSS customization with the page builder. If it wouldn't let me do as I wished, I have put into practice my knowledge in CSS and added my own CSS code
- Pages adjustment to fit all screen sizes for tablets and smartphones
- Adjustments and alterations to medias, standardization and creation of my icons
- Translation of all content
Time spent on defining content and tree view
Time spent on page layout conception
Time spent on media searches
Time spent on building website on WordPress
That is in total
Quantity of medias (photos and icons)
Quantity of CSS lines I added
